Why I don't recommend playing online?

Here are the 5 reasons, why I think online poker is bad.

1 reason. Bad time for game.

Online tournaments are U.S. Eastern Time (EST - Eastern Standard Time), and if you don't live in the U.S , this time is very bad ! Most of the tournaments will start late in the Sunday evening , and if your unlucky it will end only in Monday morning , when you will need to go to your work or school , without any sleep .

2 reason. There are no faces, no communication.

You forget that you are playing with real people . You can't talk to anyone , and from my experience a lot of people like to trash talk , and then players fold with the best hand . If you are going to play online , stay there! If you will go to real poker game or casino , a good bluffer will take all your money , and you will go home crying.

3 reason. You don't know who your playing against .

There is nothing worse than to find out that you lost to a new poker player or a child , who has got his account from his older brother or this father . You never know where children play. Their illogical moves unfix and certainly does not win. This is one of the worst things about internet poker , especially when playing under 18 is illegal ...

4 reason. You can loose all of your money , without any reason .

Imagine that you receive a letter saying that you cheated and your account has been frozen. Then begins the suffering of a few demonstrating that you're not a cheat. In most cases it appears that the leg tuck your friends who got involved in anti-competitive gaming and money laundering schemes. If you can not prove that you're not cheat, unfortunately, you wont get your money back . You say it's illegal? .. But registering an account, you carefully read the registration conditions where you have found , that cheating is not allowed ? .. Unfortunately, very rarely we read it and it cost us money.

5 reason why. You don't fell the real game!

By playing online, we don't need to shuffle cards , lift dealer button or to calculate slit pot or etc. Program does all of this for us. We only press buttons CHECK / CALL / FOLD / RAISE .

Also playing online has its pluses to ! I will post them here in the early future ! Stay with me ;)

How to be a good poker player and win a lot of money?

I decided to write a blog for beginners in which the sum of his experiences and observations of the newcomers made mistakes. I hope it will help . If you have something to add to these tips, don't be shy , post it in the comments . ;)

1st Don't play each hand! The most common beginner mistake - they are playing too many hands. Newcomers want more action, but more doesn't mean that more you play , more you win - on the contrary.

2nd Never play drunk. You will start calling with average hands and make a lot of unhealthy bets and bluffs.

3rd Bluff is not object of the game. Bluff only works in certain situations against certain opponents. If a player is always willing to call , you will lose a lot of money.

4th Most beginners think that if you have already put a lot of money in the pot, you should not withdraw. It's not true. Even if the pot odds say that you should call, do not do so if you already know that you will lose , its only waist of your money!

5th Watch and learn. Watch other players online, learn how they play .

6th Know other players. One of the most important aspects of poker is the knowledge of opponents. Observe them carefully, even when you don't have hands . The information collected can greatly help you play against them.

7th Choose a good game under his bankroll and skill level. Never play of cash, which can not afford to lose. Even if you are successful in one evening a good $ 1 / $ 2 limits, don't rush to jump to $ 2 / $ 4. At higher limits you will face stronger opponents.

8th Never splash your hands, if obliged to do so. It only helps you understand your opponents, but sooner or later its turned against you.

9th Never play being tired. You must be accumulated. Must be able to closely observe their opponents and remember the game.

10th
Don't play being sad or bad mood , because then the risk of bridge - come into play too emotional and not be able to show their best skills. Similarly, if during the course of the game after an unsuccessful hand you feel that you are starting to get mad , go relax and just leave the game.

Aces never win

Hang around poker players long enough and you will hear someone say this.

The general theory with AA is that you either win a small pot with them or lose a big one and the home game was certainly not going to be one to buck that trend.

I’ll just fast forward to the exciting part of the game if you all don’t mind.

The game is set at Chateau Ontario and present are Ontario, the Mouth, Alejandro, Ace, J6, and a couple of new fish. The Captain is absent given the possible late finish of the game running past his 11:30 curfew.

The Rapper arrives late and seizes the opportunity to box in the Mouth’s car so he can’t beat and early retreat.

In walks the Rapper with a wine bottle in hand fresh from work somewhat reticent of 2005 J6 and sets himself at the table with position on Ontario and the Mouth.

Chips are flipped over to the Rapper and cash exchanged and no sooner do the cards hit the table when Ontario says “props?”

A couple hands are go round as the details get worked out with the Rapper taking clubs from the soon to be leaving Alejandro for suits, and Ontario and the Rapper playing Red/Black flops and paired boards with doubles and triples both in play. This pretty much gives action on every hand where their is a flop and Ontario starts building a pretty decent stack off the Rapper with a run on Red Flops. The Rapper takes almost all of it back on a AAA with two black Aces flop though and to make it even better calls Ace’s hand of pocket ducks to totally wow the viewing audience at home.

And then things start to get ugly.

Ace has made himself a pretty nice stack with he decides to slow play AA against J6 with AK and gets crushed on a K44K8 and ends up doubling up J6 to a chip lead he would not relinquish for the rest of the night.

New Fish (no not that Fish) gets involved when he decides to slow play AA vs the Rapper’s J9 and can’t get rid of it on a JJ8T8 board and gets felted.

A couple players call it a night but that only seems to increase the gamble with the game getting short handed and down players trying to claw their way back up to positive.

The game gets progressively looser and looser as the Mouth gets felted and goes on a bit of a mini tilt trying to win it all back since he can’t get his car out (remember the Rapper?)

The remaining players are quite content to play a straddle with the occasional double and triple straddle even hitting the table. It’s late in the wee hours when said triple straddle is made by the Rapper who gets reraised by the Mouth who gets two callers to his surprise or glee whichever way you want to look at it.

The flop comes K85 and New Fish with a beard ships his stack in the middle UTG and gets snapped called by the Mouth, the Rapper decides now might be a good time to look at his cards and see what he has and peaks down at… 55 and almost breaks his wrist getting his chips in the middle calling.

Over go the cards and the KQ from New fish is in serious trouble to the AA from the Mouth who needs help and can’t catch the two outer. The Rapper stacks two with one blow and ends the game.

Big winner was J6 with Ontario making a nice run at the end to only owe a bit of paper to the Rapper who would have been up even more if their were more than 5 black cards in the deck.

Playing A-K after the Flop

So it’s down to your favorite day of the week - Friday poker night. The first part of the night goes fairly well, but you still haven’t hit the big pot that you have been hoping for. Then, like a gift from above, your first two (pre-flop) cards are an As-Ks. Just what you’ve been waiting for! What should your first move be?

Well your holding one of the stronger hands in poker, so your going to raise it up and not only narrow the field of opponents down but also build some value into the pot.

A number of your opponents immediately fold but three opponents call. Finally, the flop cards are laid down: Js, 10s, and 3h. Well the flop has missed your powerful Ace-King but you do have a very powerful draw with a flush draw, a straight flush draw and a gutshot straight draw.

You were the aggressor before the flop and so you come out betting after the flop with a pot sized bet trying to show your opponent that you are still strong and that you mean business.

Two of your opponents have seen enough and they pack their bags and get out of the hand but suddenly your third opponent comes back over the top of you with a raise.

Your now faced with a tough decision and you get down to crunching the numbers to see how much money you need to put in to call the raise and what odds you have of actually hitting your draw. Eventually you decide to call the raise.

The turn card is the 8h which completely misses your draw and you are first to act. Now you have a really tough decision to make. Your opponent has shown some serious strength on the flop which gives a strong indication that he has already made his hand and wants to protect it against the flush draw. The flush draw hasn’t come and it is very likely that he is going to try and protect it again whether you bet out or not.

So you decide to check and your opponent moves all-in, which forces you away from the hand and you fold.

The above is just an example of how difficult Ace-King can be to play after the flop. It looks pretty and is a very strong starting hand, but at the end of the day it is a drawing hand. If you fail to connect with the flop, turn or river then all you have is Ace high.

So the key to playing Ace-King is to recognize what it really is and play it like a drawing hand. Yes be aggressive with it before the flop, and yes by all means take a stab at a continuation bet if you’re playing against the right players that you think will fold even if you don’t connect on the flop, but if you are shown signs of resistance and you are confident that your opponent has you beat, then get the hell out of there if you haven’t got the odds to continue.

At this point, it is important for you to evaluate what type of players you are up against. In every situation it is imperative that you keep an eye on what actions were taken by your opponents in previous hands so that when you come to face them you can use that information to take the best actions against them.

If you find yourself up against a very tight player, and he has already called your raise pre-flop and then calls or raises your continuation bet then you can be fairly sure that he has you beat.

Against a more loose player, he may well come along for the ride without much of a hand, and your strong ace high or strong draw could still hold you in good shape.

But Ace-King really is a hand that should be played aggressively before the flop and then cautiously after the flop.

I always remember a quote I heard from Scotty Nguyen while talking to another player who had just lost a big portion of his stack when he overplayed Ace-King and ran into an opponent who had him well beat.

“I used to be like you, baby. When I was younger I would stake my house, my wife and my car on Ace-King – Then I became a good poker player”

So then how do you go about playing Ace-King after the flop. Well whether you connect with the flop or not, you are probably going to want to put a bet out after the flop to try and find out where you are with your opponents.

You may well take the pot down there and then, or one or more of your opponents may call or raise your bet.

If you get callers or are raised then its time to hit the think tank and try and put your opponent on a hand. Look at the board and try and work out if you think they have already hit a hand, or whether they could have been calling the bet on a draw.

If they are raising, then look at the board and see if there are any kinds of draws showing on the board that your opponent may be trying to protect against with a hand such a top pair or stronger. If your opponent is a good player, then they may well have already put you on a hand like A-K and recognized your continuation bet and be re-raising you to take you off the hand.

There is no set strategy for playing Ace-King after the flop, it is heavily dependent on the type of players you are up against, the cards that have come down on the flop and your table image.

Before automatically making a continuation bet after the flop you should consider the flop. If you get a combination of cards that would most likely not benefit most of your opponents, then this is a good time to make a continuation bet and possibly take the pot down there and then.

If you get a flop that looks dangerous and may have hit the sort of cards that you think your opponents would call a pre-flop raise with then just use common sense and don’t go betting your life on your A-K.

If the flop cards are laid down and are in your favor, bet. If they aren’t then the better option may be to check. There is one thing you should keep in mind, if another player decides to bet into you on the flop, don’t make the mistake of reraising! Often times in this situation you will end up getting beat out with a better hand and more often than not an opponent who bets out here will have some type of hand.

In conclusion, it all comes down to having a sensible post flop strategy. It is a wise idea to evaluate the players you are up against and the type of cards in the flop when you see the AK in your pre-flop cards. You also need to pay close attention to the moves made by your opponents. If you make the wrong move, it could cost you a pretty penny.

My favorite poker cards

Everybody loves to get pocket pairs when playing Hold’em. I don’t. My favorite starting hand is two medium high cards in the same color. I always bet when I have like 8 and 9 of hearts, sometimes it’s a real waste of chips… but surprisingly often I end up with a flush or straight, and WHEN I do, the pot is huge. Especially if someone has something more or less good. And since i bet from the start most of the people around the table beleives I had a pocket pair as a starting hand.

Whats your favorite starting hand?
